The Case Study of Multisystemic Therapy on Juvenile Offender

Abstract

|
Multisystemic therapy (MST) is a evidence-based treatment that has been found to be very effective in reducing the recidivism of juvenile offenders who exhibit serious antisocial behavior. In this study, we applied multisystemic therapy to juvenile offenders and his family and examined the effects of intervention. As a result of the study, positive changes were identified by behavioral observation and reporting by parents and teachers, including the reduction of internalization and externalization problem of juvenile offenders involved in the study and the improvement of attendance rates at school after intervention compared to before. And the youth was not rearrested. Through the results of this study, we discussed a positive expectations for multisystemic therapy for juvenile offenders and made suggestions for follow-up studies based on limitations.
